The Standing Committees shall be: Membership; Licensure; Publication; Government Relations; Human rights; Ethics; Professional Preparations and Standards; Financial Affairs; Bylaws and Elections. 

Membership: The Membership Committee shall process and screen all applicants for membership; promote membership in this Association, its Division, and in the ACA and related Associations and investigate all charges of unethical conduct stated in the Bylaws.

Publications: The committee shall report activities of the Association to the press and other publicity media; coordinate the relations of the Association with related Associations; coordinate publicity and promotional materials with the Membership Committee, and produce the Association Newsletter.

Government Relations: This committee shall inform the membership regarding appropriate current legislation, consider the need and propriety of resolutions or other action the Association might take and coordinate with agencies and other Association, any action approved by the Executive Board. Committee works with the ACA Legislative Committee on the latest legislation in the field of human development to advise the District of Columbia Counseling Association Bylaws 8 Executive Board on the actions to take. The Committee also contacts the necessary officials for assistance with the legal process and provides forums on voting, keeps information on candidates for offices, and works with the Licensure Committee.

Human Rights: Coordinate the human rights concerns of the Association including special committees in the area of human rights. Bring awareness to the Association of human rights, areas that are being neglected. Receive and process complaints and charges of alleged violations of the individual rights of Association member or their clients. Recommend to the Executive Board special committees to deal with specific human rights issues.

Ethics: Responsible for educating the membership concerning the Ethical Standards and receiving and processing complaints and charges of alleged violations of the Ethical Standards of the Association.

Professional Preparation and Standards: To review the minimum preparation or to insure that professional working in education, government, industry, civic and community agencies and organizations acquire the skills, knowledge and values consistent with client needs. ACES guidelines and DCCA professionalism.

Financial Affairs: Advises the Executive Board on such matters as budget planning and development and financial management. The Treasurer shall serve as ex-officio without vote. Conducts an annual audit of the treasury records and reports results to the Executive Board, by August. Prepares an annual budget for approval by the October Executive Board Meeting. Reviews Expenditures on an ongoing basis to insure budget compliance.

Bylaws: The Bylaws Committee shall receive proposals for amending the Bylaws, and shall present proposed amendments to the Executive Board.

Elections: This Committee shall prepare a state of officers, prepare ballots and in accordance with provisions of the Bylaws, identify potential officers of the Association.

Licensure: This Committee keeps up with the Licensure Bill of the District of Columbia as it affects the membership. It makes the necessary information available for presenting a bill to the Executive Board for the recommendation to necessary officials in city government. The Licensure committee also works very closely with the Government Relations Committee and keeps members abreast of the process of licensure bills as they affect the profession.
